The team arrived at Brands Hatch with high hopes for some good race results
for both our riders Jason and Pat and were not disappointed. Practice day on
Friday went to plan apart from Pat's R6 developed a problem in the fist
session with a flat battery unfortunately causing him to miss the majority
of that 30 minute stint. It turned out to be a broken rectifier and was soon
resolved. Saturday's normal two qualifying sessions were altered to a
further 30 minute practice and just one 30 minute qualifying session that
was shown live on sky sports TV. This put the pressure on the riders to
deliver a fast lap and make it count in that one and only stint. Jason had
an excellent run and finished in a 9th position start for the race the
following day. Pat was struggling a little to find a good set up with his
bike and finished in 4th position in the Cup standings and 21st overall.
Race day on Sunday was warm and dry with a strong entry list of 35 riders in
our British Supersport class. We started with a 10 minute warm up session in
the morning allowing Jason and Pat to try further suspension adjustments to
get the bikes fine tuned for the 16 lap race in the afternoon. Pat was not
comfortable with these changes so returned back to his previous settings
with further changes to the Ohlins rear shock absorber and a different rear
ride height, this turned out to be "spot on" for the race giving him
excellent feel from his machine. The track temperature for the race at 3.50
was up allowing the riders to use the softer Pirelli SC0 compound rear
tyres, these tyres give excellent grip in hotter conditions. The race got
underway on time and Jason got an average start and came around on lap 1 in
12th position, with the fast and furious pace many of the riders crashed in
the early stages of the race allowing those still circulating to climb up
the leader board. By lap 7 Jason was in a strong 6th place and not far
behind the leading group, on the last lap Jason made a pass on Ben Wilson
(Gearlink Kawasaki) and crossed the finishing line in a brilliant 4th place
only 3 seconds behind the winner James Westmoreland on the factory backed
(Came Yamaha) R6. This result now puts Jason in 10th position in the
Championship just 4 points behind multiple TT winner Ian Hutchinson. Great
ride Jason.
Pat had a good opening lap and came around in 19th place and by lap 7 was up
to a brilliant 10th position also benefiting from the mistakes of other
riders. The last 9 laps Pat was in a close battle with Jesse Trayler
(Gearlink Kawasaki) they were constantly swopping places on track, Pat
eventually getting the better of Trayler with 2 laps to go. With clear track
in front of him Pat produced his fastest 2 laps of the race and crossed the
finishing line in an excellent 10th position and more importantly 1st place
finish in the Cup Championship ahead of Max Hunt in 12th and Dan Kneen in
14th. Pat now has strengthened his lead in the Championship with 132 points
some 24 points ahead of Max Hunt in second. A great outcome for the team
with smiles all round. We are now 2/3 of the way through the season and we
revisit Cadwell Park on the 30th of August for round 9, a challenging track
which we are all looking forward to.

A VERY SUCCESSFUL 7th ROUND AT SNETTERTON BRITISH SUPERBIKES
The 7th round of the British Supersport Championships was held at the very fast Snetterton race track near Norwich in Norfolk. The circuit is an old airfield with two very long straights requiring bikes with good power delivery with top speeds of over 160 mph in our 600cc Supersport class. The practice day on Friday was warm and dry with the usual Snetterton gusting winds typical of this very flat and open track with few trees to provide wind breaks.
The day went smoothly allowing Jason and Pat to run in new engines and fine tune gearing and suspension settings with the two allocated 30 minute practice sessions. Saturday our qualifying day conditions were similar to the previous day, but the first 30 minute qualifying session was stopped after only 10 minutes due to the track surface breaking up on the
racing line through the tight Russell's chicane. The organizers scratched their heads and decided to extend the painted white kerbing to stop the bikes running over this potentially dangerous spot. The effect of this was an hour and a half of the days schedule was lost. So we ended up having just one 30 minute qualifying session later in the day instead of are usual two.
The lap times from the initial 10 minutes on track were cancelled, a little frustrating as both Jason and Pat had put in their best lap times of the weekend and were well up the order. So the riders had to make it count with our one and only qualifying stint. Jason finished the session in a strong 12th place only 1.1 seconds off the fastest poll time set by the factory Came Yamaha rider James Westmoreland. Pat achieved his lap time goal of breaking into the 1 minute 8 second bracket on his 16th out of 20 laps on track and finished in 21st position overall and 4th place in his cup championship. Race day on Sunday was again dry and still very windy, with our 20 lap race set to go at 3.50 in the afternoon.
Both Jason and Pat were feeling confident and looking forward to some good racing. Jason got a great start and was right up there with the leaders on the first lap in 9th position and then enjoyed some close battles and by lap 5 was up to 6th place in the race, the remaining 15 laps Jason fought hard with Billy McConnell on the other Came Factory supported Yamaha eventually getting the better of him on lap 17. Jason crossed the finishing line in a brilliant 6th position and first Yamaha home this excellent result leaves Jason currently in 10th place in the Championship. Pat also had good drive off the start line but unfortunately was blocked into the first corner with a fair amount of fairing bashing going on, luckily all the 31 riders managed to stay on board. Pat came round on lap one in 24th position and realizing he had some work to do set about closing down and overtaking the riders in front of him, by lap 5 he was up to 17th place. Lady luck was with him as both Luke Mossey and Paul Jordan both retired with engine problems, this meant Pat was in a close battle with Max Hunt for the Cup class win. On the final lap of the race Pat attempted a pass on Hunt but ran wide and had to close the throttle but still managed to reach the finish in a great 2nd place with his 4th podium visit so far this year. Another 20 points in the bag now puts Pat's lead in the Cup Championship up to 9 points, still very close at the sharp
end. We now have a 3 week gap to the next round at Brands Hatch GP, both Jason and Pat consider this challenging track to be one of their favorites.
Roll on the weekend of the 8th of August. See you there.

BONNY WEE SCOTLAND, NOT QUITE SO BONNY !!
After the long drive to the Knockhill circuit just a few miles north of Edinburgh on Thursday we set up camp with the team's new Supersport rider Jason O'Halloran.
Things were looking good for an enjoyable weekend's racing including some decent weather. Practice day on Friday was dry and Jason got his first try out on the R6, unfortunately in the first of two 30 minute sessions Jason's bike developed a mechanical problem early on which only allowed him to complete 4 laps.
Jason's crew of Spider and team worked hard to replace the engine in time for the second session later on in the day.Jason finished the practice day in 13th position only 0.7 of a second off the fastest time, a good start. Pat had two trouble free outings on his R6 and finished in 19th place overall and 3rd in his cup championship.
The following day Saturday was again warm and dry with two 30 minute qualifying slots. Jason was getting more familiar with his machine and finished in 14th position for a 4th row start on the grid for the race.
Pat got his head down and achieved a lap time of 51.198 in the first session, he was hoping for a quicker time in the next and final session which he managed on his last flying lap but only by one thousandths of a second with a time of 51.197, a little frustrated by this he was starting from 19th position on the grid one row behind Jason. There were 33 riders this weekend competing in the British Supersport class. The weather forecast for race day on Sunday was not looking good and we awoke to rain and high winds. The race schedule was badly effected with flooding to the track, eventually we got a 8 minute warm
up session to try out our Pirelli wet weather tyres and try to find a suspension set up that would work on a wet track.
Pat and Jason were both comfortable and finished the short practice in 11th and 12th positions. As the weather continually changed a lot of track time was lost and many of the other class's races were cancelled including the Harley Davidson's, 125's, Stock 600 second race and also the second British Superbike race. The organizers managed to slot us in for a shortened 15 lap race instead of the planned 25 lapper at about 4 o'clock.
The high winds had dried the track very quickly and our bikes were sat on tyre warmers with dry tyres ready to go and then the skies opened again and it was back to wet tyres and softer suspension settings, it's not easy this sport.
Jason had a good strong first race for the team and finished in a very encouraging 10th place, this leaves him in 11th position in the championship. Pat had not the best of starts with some clutch judder but found some places over the race distance and was pressurizing Dan Kneen and Paul Jordon just in front of him. Dan was an early victim of the appalling conditions and crashed heavily breaking his collarbone in the process. Then on lap 12 Paul Jordon went off in exactly
the same place after high siding on the painted very slippery kerbing. The race was then red flagged and stopped and a result was declared as over 2/3 of the race had been completed. Pat had finished in 17th place overall and a very pleasing 2nd place podium finish in his championship. This result now put's Pat in 1st place in the standings at the half way point of 6 out of 12 race weekend's completed. We now have a two week break before the battle
continues at the super fast Snetterton circuit on 18th July. Can't wait.

KARL( BOMBER) HARRIS ON THE R1 SUPERBIKE / BSB MALLORY PARK ROUND 5
All change at Mallory Park this weekend with Karl Harris giving the team's
R1 Superbike an outing in the two BSB races. The Bomber is reunited with the
bike he rode in 2008 for Rob Mac Racing. Practice and qualifying all went to
plan with no real problems. Karl then really got his head down and finished
the final superpole sessions in a brilliant 7th position, putting him on the
second row of the grid and sandwiched between the two factory Yamaha riders;
Andrew Pitt in 6th and Dan Linfoot in 8th position.
The bomber got a good start in race one and was running in 6th place when
unfortunately the race was red flagged and stopped due to a crash between
Martin Jessop and Dan Linfoot. The race was then restarted some minutes
later but Karl failed to make the start line due to a technical problem with
the R1's clutch, Arghhhh!
The second race grid positions were determined by race one's fastest lap
times. Alas, this meant a 15th place start on row 4. During the race Karl
held station in 15th position until on lap 17 when he had to retire the bike
with a further technical issue. A very disappointing end to an encouraging
couple of days practice and qualifying, but it does show that the East Coast
racing 2008 R1 Superbike is still a very competitive package.
Pat also had a fairly frustrating weekend. He arrived at Mallory with cuts
and bruises following a crash on a KTM Supermoto bike the week before.
Practice day on Friday and qualifying on Saturday all went by reasonably
smoothly and he ended up following final qualifying in 5th position start in
his championship.
Come the race on Sunday, in blisteringly hot conditions as it had been all
weekend, Pat had a fair start and then battled with Dan Kneen, the current
championship leader for most of the race. Eventually getting the better of
him on lap 20 out of the 25 lap race. When the chequered flag dropped, Pat
secured a 5th place finish and 18th overall.
Luke Mossey had a convincing win in the cup championship with Paul Jordan in
second place and Shaun Winfield who was the last of the podium finishes in
third. This now closes the championship right up with Dan Kneen still
leading by just one point from Pat in second, but the top seven in the
standings are separated by only 16 points. It's all getting very close!
Onward and up to the next round this coming weekend in Scotland at
Knockhill, our 6th round and halfway through the 12 round championship.

A VERY SUCCESSFUL 2010 ISLE OF MAN T.T. FOR AMERICAN RIDER JIMMY MOORE
Jimmy and East Coast Racing set off for the Isle of Man T.T. races back on Thursday 27th May in preparation for the first week of practice followed by a further week of races.
Practice week went well with decent weather in the main and all 3 bikes behaving themselves.
Jimmy put in as many laps as possible to reacquaint himself with the 37 miles and hundreds of corners around the the scenic island track. Jimmy managed a best practice lap of 123 miles per hour average on the teams Yamaha R1 Superbike. The first race on Saturday 5th June was 6 laps in the Pokerstars Superbike event, Jimmy finished in a very respectable 18th position out of the 72 starters with a best lap of 124 MPH. The next was the 4 lap Monster energy Supersport race held on Monday the 7th, again a full grid of 62 riders taking part.
Jimmy was going well in 12th place and came in for the necessary refuel stop after 2 laps but unfortunately the petrol tank filler cap was jammed shut and just would not open, a very frustrating end to a promising race result. But onwards and up and the afternoon was again another 4 lapper this time the Royal London 360 spocored Superstock race. Jimmy was armed with the teams Suzuki GSXR 1000 bike the race started with a healthy grid of 61 riders, all went well and Jimmy finished the 1 hour 14 minute race in 20th position another strong result.
Ian Hutchinson was in brilliant form and had won all of the opening 3 races for the Padgett's Honda team.
The second Supersport race was scheduled for the Wednesday but the heavens opened and was put back to Thursday for safety reasons. Jimmy was now really getting into the groove and looking forward to giving Pat's Yamaha R6 Supersport bike a good thrashing around the 37 mile Island loop along with a new "fuel cap" . All went nice and smoothly in the race for Jimmy and he bagged a brilliant 15th place finish with a best lap of 122 MPH, this result put Jimmy in an excellent 2nd position in the privateers cup standings after the 4 races with 1 Superbike race left to go on the following day.
The unthinkable was on everyone's lips with Hutchy winning again and equaling Philip McCallen 4 T.T. wins in one year, could he achieve the full house with 5 out of 5 ???. The final event the 6 lap Dainese Senior Superbike race would take the competitors just under 2 hours of seriously hard riding to complete.
The race got going in good weather conditions but unfortunately one of the front runners Guy Martin had a high speed accident on lap 3 and with his Honda Superbike in flames on the track it was rightly decided to red flag and stop the race. The god's were with Guy on this day after his 150 MPH crash and he was extremely lucky to sustain fairly minor injuries. When the dust had settled it was decided to rerun the race as a shortened 4 lap affair.
Jimmy had another trouble free race and finished in a great 11th position with an excellent best lap of 124 MPH. James McBride just piped Jimmy in the end for the Privateers Cup Championship but 2nd overall was a brilliant result for Jimmy and the team.
Well done Jimmy on a job well done. And yes you guessed it Ian Hutchinson won again and finished the week with a 100% record, 5 races and 5 wins, an astonishing achievement.

THIRD PODIUM ON THE TROT FOR THE TEAM WITH A WIN FOR PAT McDOUGALL
We awoke to another glorious sunny day with high expectations for some good race results. Tom had qualified the previous day in 9th position only 0.2 of a second off the supersport lap record for the 16 lap race.
He got a good start and was in 6th place on the opening lap, the pace was as hot as the weather and by lap 13 Tom was fighting with Glen Richards for 7th position.
Unfortunately on the next lap Tom lost control of his R6 and crashed heavily at Park corner, luckily he walked away unhurt but his machine suffered extensive damage and that was the end of Tom's race.
This now leaves Tom in 7th position in the Championship, still only one point behind Ben Wilson who also crashed early on in the race. Pat had a good qualifying day yesterday and was starting from 2nd position in his championship and 19th place overall.
As the starting lights went out he had an excellent run up to the first corner and was up to 1st place and 16th overall after the first lap.
Pat was pushed hard by Hunt, Cringle and Dan Kneen for the entire race but managed to control the pressure with very consistent lap times all in the 1 minute 32 second bracket for all of the 16 laps.Pat crossed the finishing line in 1st place and 15th overall, 1.1 seconds in front of Max Hunt.
This great result gives Pat back to back wins following his success at the previous round at Oulton Park and puts Pat in a very strong position only 2 points behind the current series leader Dan Kneen, leaving him in joint 2nd place with Mark Cringle.
We now have a 5 week break to the next BSB round at Mallory Park our 5th round of the 12 event championship on the weekend of
the 27th June.
Roll on Mallory and hopefully some more silverware.

AMERICAN RACER JIMMY MOORE JOINS THE TEAM THIS WEEKEND
Jimmy Moore double American AMA Superstock Champion is getting some track
time here at Cadwell Park this weekend riding a Suzuki GSXR 1000 bike

A GOOD SOLID START TO THE WEEKEND AT A BLISTERINGLY HOT CADWELL PARK
Friday today is the start of the weekend’s racing with two 30 minute practise sessions. Tom was in good form and finished the day in a pleasing 5th position out of the 36 riders competing in the British Supersport class. Pat was also going well and ended up 2nd in the Cup class and 16th overall. Let’s see what tomorrow brings with our qualifying day.

A WIN FOR PAT AND EXCELLENT RACE RESULTS AT A WET OULTON PARK
The usual for Oulton Park, is the race going to be wet or dry? Well,it was dry tyres on the grid then it rained one minute before the start, so wet tyres were the order of the day. Tom had qualified well in 6th position for the race and by lap 4 he was in a strong 4th place, helped a little by the fact that Gowland, McConnell, Hutchinson and Paul Young had all crashed in the treacherous very slippery conditions. Pat had a sensational start from a disappointing grid position of 27th and 6th place starter in the Cup and got excellent drive off the start and was up to 15th on the first lap and 6th place overall by lap 3. Mid race the safety car came out on track following another crash for 3 laps which closed the time gaps between the riders.
The last few laps required some caution as the rain began to fall again. At the end the win went to Ben Wilson(Gearlink Kawasaki)with Sam Lowes right on his heals. Tom and Pat crossed the line in 6th and 7th positions only separated by 0.2 of a second. This solid result now leaves Tom in 4th position in the championship so far, only 1 point behind Ben Wilson. Pat's 7th gives him
some main championship points but more importantly he was 1st to the chequered flag of the cup competitors with a lead of over 10 seconds.
This now leaves Pat in 7th position in the standings. A very satisfying result after the disappointments of the non finishes at the first two rounds. The team now head off to Ireland for the North West 200 races next week with
experienced American rider Jimmy Moore in the saddle. He will be riding the teams Yamaha R1 Superbike, Suzuki GSXR 1000 Superstocker and Pat's Yamaha R6 Supersport bike. Fingers crossed for some good results. Next round for BSB is at Cadwell Park our 4th event on the 23rd May. Lets see if we can get three podium results on the trot. See you there.
