Well it all started fairly well with 2nd place in the Cup Championship start on the grid.
Reasonable start when the lights went out then the hectic dash into paddock hill bend and up to druids for the first time, unfortunately I got blocked on the inside line and about 5 riders came past me.
I then settled in to the race behind Jesse Trayler (gearlink Kawasaki) but I had more pace than him but it toke me until lap 8 to make the pass stick, once passed I then got into a faster mode and was circulating in the 47 second per lap bracket.
At this point I was in 3rd position in my race and closing in on Dan Kneen also on a Yamaha who was running in 2nd, things were looking good for a podium finish.
But we all know what racing is like and on lap 13 (yes lap 13) I had a hiccup with the bike coming out of Druids corner and I lost all power and coasted down the hill and parked it up off the track.
The marshals then came to my rescue and pushed the bike behind the barrier, I then went back to it and fiddled with all the switches and hay presto it started so I jumped back on and rejoined the race in spot last position and 2 laps down.
The race was shortened to 21 laps following a crash and oil on the track.
Well not the result I was hoping for having won the Stock 600 race here last year, but my bike is fast and the team have done a great job putting it all together.
After the team got back to base Spider had the engine out of the bike and checked through all the electrics etc, and it all looks fine for Thruxton.
Can't wait to open "that throttle" at the UK's fastest track next week.
Roll on the second round !!
